Just in case the standard S 1000 RR isn’t wild enough for you, BMW will offer a HP4 version for 2013 with all 193 ponies available in all riding modes and its wet weight (90 percent full tank) reduced to just 439 pounds with Race ABS. The first four-cylinder bike in the HP4 family also comes standard with Dynamic Damping Control (DDC), which adapts the suspension damping to the rider’s actions and road surface using sensors and electrically controlled valves. BMW took its experience from the International German Motorcycle Championship (IDM), rolled it into a little ball of electrons and stuffed it into the bike’s Race ABS, so that in “Slick” mode, the IDM setting gives a skilled rider the option of maximum possible deceleration. Basically, this bike is race-ready. It also sports Launch Control and refined Dynamic Traction Control for use with slicks, a larger 200/55 ZR-17 rear tire, standard shift assistant, forged wheels, a titanium exhaust system and lighter sprocket carrier and battery. The S 1000 RR HP4’s elaborate Racing Blue Metallic/Light White paint and numerous special styling touches set it well apart from the standard bike.
BMW recently announced pricing for the S 1000 RR HP4. The $20,525 Standard model will be equipped with:
