Employees at Ducati’s factory in Bologna, Italy, got a sneak peek at the company’s prototype Scrambler, which is slated for launch in early 2015. Setting the tone for the new model, workers arrived to discover surf music playing and a beach scene on display, including tiki umbrellas, surfboards, street food and a yellow shipping container in which they were able view the new model undercover.

The Scrambler model has been spinning around the rumor mill for a while now, and Ducati’s publicity stunt finally confirms its existence.

Inspired by Ducati’s original Scramblers, a series of small, 125cc-450cc single-cylinder run-abouts produced from 1962 until the mid ’70s, the new version is said “to represent the perfect combination of the traditional and contemporary, while returning to the pure essence of motorcycling – two wheels, wide handlebars, a simple engine and a lot of fun.”

Details and official photos have not yet been released, only a teaser image that shows a silhouette of the top part of the front of the bike, showing just the handlebar and headlight, which is outlined with a thoroughly modern LED ring. Ducati says the new Scrambler will break cover this autumn and go on sale in early 2015.
