Hypermotard 1100EVO
Refinements have reduced claimed dry weight to 379 pounds (down 16 lbs) and boosted engine output to 95 horsepower (up 5 hp). The EVO name is derived from the new Desmodue 1100 Evoluzione air-cooled L-twin engine. Bore and stroke remain the same at 98 x 71.5mm, but the crankcases are now vacuum cast using the same Vacural technology that reduces weight and ensures consistent wall thickness and increased strength. The 1100EVO gets a new magnesium alternator cover and a lighter crankshaft assembly that uses a 848 flywheel. The new engine is 11.5 pounds lighter than its predecessor.

Power gains have come not only from the new lightweight crankshaft assembly, but also from an evolution of the top-end of the Desmodue power unit. The cylinder head, which now has improved lubrication and cooling performance, also has a redesigned inlet port shape for optimum flow and a modified combustion chamber shape for improved burn efficiency. This improved efficiency is the result of a higher compression ratio and the change to a single spark per cylinder ignition now managed by high-speed Siemens electronics. Ensuring a sufficient feed to the higher compression set-up is an improved flow airbox intake duct and increased valve lift for maximum volumetric efficiency.

Whereas the new Hypermotard 796 has a wet, APTC slipper-style clutch, the 1100EVO retains Ducati’s characteristic dry racing-style clutch. A new oil cooler with has 85 percent more cooling area. Conforming to Euro3 regulations, the 2-1-2 exhaust system is now monitored by twin lambda probes to ensure the most efficient fuel injection under all conditions. Iconic underseat exhausts are unchanged.

Lightweight wheels mounted on large diameter axles are fitted with Pirelli Diablo Rosso tyres. Stopping power is controlled by two radially mounted Brembo 4-piston callipers gripping lightweight 305mm twin discs up front, and a 245mm disc at the rear.

Hypermotard 1100EVO SP
The higher-end SP model has higher ground clearance, higher spec suspension, higher bars and even less weight. New longer, black-bodied, diamond-like carbon coated, fully adjustable 50mm Marzocchi forks have 1.2 inches more travel and increase the SP's ground clearance by 1.38 inches over the base model, extending the SP's extreme cornering performance and providing a more track-oriented set-up. The Öhlins remote reservoir rear shock is fully adjustable for compression, rebound and preload.

World-class braking performance is provided by twin Brembo Monobloc front calipers, with four 34mm pistons gripping 305mm discs. Five-spoke, forged black Marchesini wheels with red pin-striping are lightweight, and they are shod with grippy Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP tires. The Hypermotard 1100EVO SP also gets serrated foot pegs with removable rubber inserts and Teflon sliders. The tapered alloy handlebars have a 20mm longer bar-riser that effectively changes the riding positioning to enable greater leverage under extreme riding conditions. The risers are finished in black along with the new Marzocchi forks, upper and lower fork clamps, footpeg carriers and pedals, exhaust guard, rear subframe and rear sprocket carrier.

A carbon fiber rear hugger is fitted as standard equipment, enhancing the SP's already extreme image and also providing protection for the Öhlins rear suspension unit. Carbon fiber is also used for the fork protectors, timing belt covers, front fender rear section and tail side covers.

The Hypermotard 1100EVO SP is boldly finished in a choice of red-themed or white-themed Ducati Corse livery to underline its competition intention. Both color schemes have red trellis frames with black wheels and the new Ducati Corse logo proudly displayed on the Hypermotard's beak section.

Supplied as standard equipment on the 1100EVO SP, the Ducati Data Analyzer (DDA), which includes PC software, a USB-ready data retrieval card and instructions, enables owners to review and analyze the performance of the bike and its rider, and make comparisons between various channels of information.
