In the 1950s and ’60s motorcycle styling was of little concern to either the OEMs or consumers. Then in 1973, Triumph USA and designer Craig Vetter came up with the Hurricane, and... Read more »

Remember the SV650? When it debuted in 1999, Suzuki’s small-fry naked bike wowed the press and public alike despite having modest power, budget components and no wind protection. Why? The SV650 had that special something not all bikes have. It can’t be bolted on and it doesn’t show up in spec charts.... Read more »

Over the past few years we’ve tested quite a few machines with “automatic” transmissions: the SE5-equipped Can-Am Spyder, the electric-shift Yamaha FJR1300AE, the dual-clutch Honda VFR1200F DCT, the hydromechanical HFT-equipped Honda DN-01, as well as CVT-equipped scooters and the Aprilia Mana... Read more »

In addition to the end of the Mayan calendar (and perhaps the end of the world?), 2012 marks the tenth anniversary of the Suzuki V-Strom 1000, a V-twin adventure tourer that was Rider‘s 2002 Motorcycle of the Year. In the mid-1980s the Japanese got deadly serious about their sportbikes. When the 750cc size became the competition class of choice, everybody piled in, with Interceptors, Ninjas, FZs…and Gixxers, the first generation of GSX-R750 models, which have continued to this day, except that what cost $4,499... Read more »

Suzuki Motorcycle Standouts

Suzuki motorcycle reviews Suzuki introduced the first GSX-R750 sportbike in 1985, and it was one of the first motorcycles to offer the power, performance and lightweight of a racing motorcycle to consumers. In 2002, Suzuki introduced the DL1000 V-Strom, an adventure touring motorcycle that combined power, comfort, ruggedness and load capacity into a go-anywhere package. Due to excellent performance in Suzuki motorcycle reviews and road tests, V-Stroms – along with the DL650 variant introduced in 2004 – have proven to be very popular among touring riders.
