Making a comeback, the legendary bad-boy Tuono adds V4 R to its name, thanks to two additional cylinders, 41 more horsepower and 22 fewer pounds. Its engine is adapted from the RSV4 superbike, which includes the latest throttle-by-wire system with three ride maps and APRC electronics package. For aggressive street use, the Tuono’s first three gear ratios are shorter and maximum torque (82 lb-ft) is on tap at 9,500 rpm. The Tuono V4 R ($14,999) also has a new frame, Brembo brakes and Sachs suspension. Other Aprilia models offered for 2012 include the Shiver 750 ($9,499), Mana 850 GT ABS ($10,999), Dorsoduro 1200 ($11,999), RSV4 R ($16,999) and RSV4 R Factory ($22,499).

Moto Guzzi, which just celebrated its 90th anniversary, has introduced a limited-edition California 90 ($15,990), featuring a California Metallic Orange/Diamond White paint scheme, special tank logo, limited-edition plate on the triple clamp and a cowhide saddle. After 40 years of production, the 90 will be the California’s last hurrah. The adventure-touring Stelvio has been redesigned with a more integrated and aerodynamic fairing, taller windscreen, larger fuel capacity (now 8.4 gallons), redesigned seat, new instrumentation and revised engine timing, cooling and ECU. Claimed engine output is now 105 horsepower and 83 lb-ft of torque. Now offered exclusively as the Stelvio 1200 NTX ($15,490), adventure accoutrements include crash guards, hand guards, halogen lights and aluminum panniers. Other Moto Guzzi models offered for 2012 include the V7 Classic ($8,990), V7 Racer ($9,790), Griso 8V SE ($12,490) and Norge GT 8V ($15,990).
