...wuz out ridin' yesterday and my trusty steed seemed to hit a wall at 110 mph.....around 5,000 rpm....no amount of whippin' could get it to go faster...even layin' low on the seat did'nt help...

...so my mate on his RK just kinda blew past me....

...I'm thinking maybe I gained some weight or sumptin'....

...just when I thought a 95 inch engine would be plenty of power....sigh.....it ain't enuff.....

...I even got me one of dem fancy dancy race ignition thingies....supposed to allow my motor to spool up to 6,200 rpm....
...but it did'nt happen.....

...so I'm thinkin' maybe one of dem 124 inch engines might be the ticket.....

Run it one gear lower, then shift when that tops off. You should be able to pull yer top then.

(No comment on the concept of riding any HD over 100 - my Ultra gets real weird feeling at that speed)

hmmm.....y'know....I guess I could have done that.....did'nt think about it...just kinda plopped it into 5th and twisted the throttle wide open...

...my Heritage is rock steady at those speeds.....I don't have any sense of impedending doom or other mechanical shimmies or shakes....'cept maybe for the wind, which is noticeable stronger at 100 plus...

...last time I ran it wide open...I topped off at about 115 mph....

...I don't often take it north of 80....just once in a while....

...my friend has the 103 engine in his RK....I did'nt think 8 cubic inches would make that much difference....but clearly it does, I won't say he came flying by me...but he certainly was moving right along....he said he wuz doing 120 when he came by.....I believe it......not bad for H-D iffen you ask me....

For the price of that 124 inch engine you can get an entire BMW K1300S and go 165mph without the bike even working hard. And it's comfortable, handles unbelievably, has awesome brakes and gets as good mpg as the HD.

Only trouble is - it ain't a H-D.

howsit2003, you're right! If it's it speed you want, as your post seemed to suggest, the 'Busa would be great choice. But it wouldn't be cross-country comfortable, would have worse brakes and way worse build quality.

There's no trouble in it not being an H-D, Hawg Man. I choose my ride by standards other than the name slapped on the tank. By every measurable parameter (except maybe paint job quality), H-Ds are inferior motorcycles. I've had four of them over the years, none of them were even remotely close in overall experience to my current BMW. Power, handling, brakes, build quality, comfort, control, you name it, the BMW is superior. Aesthetics aside, for which there is no better or worse, if you like H-Ds that's fine, but anyone on an H-D thinking they're riding the best bike is just plain kidding themselves.
