I was reading a post this evening f/ gofastgeezer. He was asking about tires, but in the post he mentioned that he NEVER turns a wheel if he's had any alcohol to drink. And I got to thinking about this.
My personal belief is getting off the bike and having a beer w/ lunch is okay, but that's about my limit. How does the rest of the community feel? Do you drink while on the road? If so, what's your limit? Do you ride w/ other bikers who drink and ride? How much do they consume?
I'm not trying to make any kind of a point here, I'm just interested in what you think.

I do turn a wheel, pretty close to the same rule you run with. Taco Thursday gets a bit risky sometimes, but I am very aware that I have developed a tolerance for the effect of the alcohol. The tolerance does not mitigate the physiological results of the impairment, and I wait for the approximate .015% burnoff rate to proceed.

As a rule, i try to limit myself to 1 beer if im on the bike, but most of the time i just dont bother. If i have 1, i want 2, if i have 2, then another seems ok, etc. I limit myself to 4 most of the time as a rule anyway, but on my bike, none is usually better than any. And if i do have my 1, i eat big and stay where i am for as long as we can sit.
So most of the time, no i dont turn a wheel if im out, but that one time i do, its only 1 with a big meal. And if im not with the mrs, its none because i know my self control is not great.

I don't touch alcohol, period, if I'm on the bike. Riding is dangerous enough without having my judgment or reflexes impaired.
I don't have the numbers in front of me right now, but I'm pretty sure the majority of fatal motorcycle accidents involve alcohol.
As some of you said, one drink leads to two, then that can lead to three, then that can lead to four...

I'm old enough to know better. Use of any alcahol and riding a MC is not the smart thing to do. It's bad enough to have to dodge the cars while sober, than with a buzz on. Anything that causes one to lose perspective while riding a MC or riding anything for that matter is a bad choice!

As enjoyable as it can be to have a beer during lunch, I also avoid it. As others have said, it's too easy to have just one more and then make excuses/rationalizations about being okay to ride. Instead, I ride all day and then reward myself with a "survival" beer: I made it home in one piece and will live to ride another day. Nothing tastes better than a well-earned beer at the end of a long ride. Unfortunately, there are roadhouses on popular motorcycle roads and their parking lots are often full on the weekends. Lots of guys and gals drink then get back on their bikes. Bad idea. The statistics are not in their favor.

I often won't drink if riding my MC. However I've been known to have one beer before riding home. I would much rather have that "survival" beer at the end of the day as a reward in the comfort of my home instead.

Meant to add that my fellow riders are like me and either have just 1 and a meal that we converse over a long period of time, or none at all.
And the place i go to on long rides with my wife, tons of bikes out front, almost all of them partaking at the bar, much more than just a few unfortunately.

As a rule if you drink and get on your bike you're an idiot...If you drink, drive and then try to justify it your a double idiot. I hope I am being harsh enough on you blockhead microcephalics.
I am sure you have loud pipes so the cagers can hear you and a loud horn so they can hear you and a lightbar so they can see you.

Had to look that one up:

Everything but the lightbar:

Really, I am not trying to justify it, just a fact of life for me.
