I'm about due for my second oil change and would like to change to a synthetic brand. I was told of Royal Purple "Max Cycle". I was wondering if anyone has used it and what they think about it. Want to see what people have to say about the synthetic oils out there today.
Thanks

Great motorcycle oil comparison test here includes Syn3, Royal Purple Max Cycle and 24 others: Motorcycle oil comparison report
Pick one that meets your needs. If you are interested, I can direct ship Amsoil to anyone at wholesale prices. They also have motorcycle oil and air filters , and the NGK Iridium spark plugs shown to increase horsepower and torque, and all of the Mother's cleaners/waxes/polishes .

I just replaced the Amsoil on my bike yesterday in all three holes after 10,000 miles. The transmission oil looked as clean as the oil poured from a fresh bottle. The inner primary was a little dirty do to the friction wear of the clutch plates. The engine oil looked dirty, as I entisipated it would do to engine combustion contammenants. Great product. Highly recommend it.

It seems as though every link to every test is either an AMSOIL website, or a site referencing an AMSOIL-generated comparison.

I have NOTHING against AMSOIL, and may very well use it on my next change.
But where are the independent, non manufacturer specific comparisons?

I think Amsoil is the only one with balls enough to do that kind of comparison. There is plenty on the web about motorcycle oil, and oil in general. Some things I have learned, ANY oil will get you 10,000 miles, synthetic will get you close to 20,000 miles, all oil is really the same-additive packages differ(synth to synth and fossil to fossil), there are places to send samples of your motor oil to see what's happening inside your engine-and to see just how well your oil is holding up.

Most oils are advertised as meeting or exceeding API Service Categories SH, SG/CF, CD and so on. So if you are using these service categories as a baseline , you can compare oil A to oil B before you even use it.
Payloader is on point with the fact that the additive packages are the real 'recipe' for the oil.

Here are the latest independent laboratory test results of 32 motorcycle specific oils using a dozen standard ASTM oil tests: 2009 Motorcycle Oil Comparison

I have used the Mobil 1 V-Twin for the last two changes on my 07 FLSTC. I have no complants with the oil. I will do a oil analysis in 1500 miles at my next oil change.
