Hey OB
Softail Deluxe is a real nice ride. My son rides a 05 Springer Softail and loves it. Thinking of doing a trip to Ont. How are the laws on bikers ,like pipes
and helmets? Have Vance Hines pipes ( somewhat loud ) and ride with a peapod skid lid. Want to visit historic sites. Enjoy your new ride. Have fun and ride safe.

kpapa, Helmets are mandatory in Ont although a skull cap may get you by depending on the cop. (NO HELMET will get you a fine everytime)They had a blitz here in our small town lately because some locals bikers were blasting up main st, vibrating windows and making the locals upset. They dont usually bother sensisble drivers even if their bikes dont meet the noise requirements.
Not sure if you have heard of our town in Ont, its called "PORT DOVER" and we just broke the world record (soon to be documented by Guiness) for the most bikers to assemble at a bike rally in a single day in the world. (over 12000) This event takes place every Fri 13th only one this year but 3 next year. We just had one on the 13 th of June with over 150,000 people jammed in a town of 6000 people, just unbelievable!!! Having said that you just cant live here without owning a bike and back on the road after a 20 year absence and enjoying every min, cheers

hey OB
I was in the U.S. Coast Guard (1970-1974) stationed in Oswego N.Y. on the only 82 footer on the Great Lakes. We did many SAR missions on the lakes. Port Dover is a beautiful place. We worked many missions with the Canadian Coast Guard. Have been to many ports in Ontario from Cornwall to Thunder Bay. We want to go to Ontario and check out some of the historic sites. My wife and I love going ( riding our Harley ) to places and checking the History. We are planning a trip to New Mexico ( fly & ride ) this fall. It depends on how much the prices go up. We just had the Americade here in Lake George N.Y.( first week of June every year ) We did not have as many this year as passed years. Every year the law gets harder on bikers and this year was the worst with there mandatory bike checks. People just want to have a good time and they are taking that away. Thanks for the info . Have fun and ride safe.

kpapa ,that is interesting and must have been a great adventure with the Coast Guard. They are not all that hard on bikers or street rodders here (my former hobby)as long as they dont abuse their priviledges. Our big day here as I mentioned before is Fri 13th and no bike checks are ever done although a few years ago they stopped the bikes coming into town checking for alcahol/drugs but couldnt handle the volume so ended that practice quickly.(good thing it was on the way into town not on the way out lol) No name for the bike yet ? Picking the softail up in Chicogo on the 9th of July. OB

hey OB
If you do long rides and like history ride to Alexandria Bay NY.( about 6 hr ride for you ) Take uncle Sam's boat tour and get off the boat at Bolt Castle. Take the tour through the castle. It is beautiful. That is one of our favorite spots to visit. We try to go once a year for a 3 day weekend. We stay in Watertown at one of the big chain Hotels. ( half hour southwest of Alexandria Bay ) You probably are not sleeping very good at night just thinking about picking up that new Deluxe on July 9th. When I ordered my RKC I was 9 months
waiting. Worst than waiting for my son to be born. Enjoy your new ride. Have fun and ride safe.

Just wanted to say that the Thunder Press has a good article on Port Dover
