He asked for sport touring. "Crotch Rockets" can make decent sport touring bikes if you change out the bars and seat.

I am getting intrigued with the idea of ZZR 1200; good performance and readily easily modifiable (seat primarily) to work for sport touring. There is one on ebay in Kansas I am watching - and several on Craig's List - although I am finding communication with folks who have them for sale to be spotty at best. jd

You can get Givi bags for them, too. The mounting hardware is pretty ugly when the bags aren't in place, though.

Ebay can be nice, or it can be a bad place to deal with. Don't trust any deals that are too good to be true, especially the ones that offer free shipping.

Best bet is to find someone local that can check out the bike for you.

The bike I am watching on Ebay is for sale from a dealership in a small town in Kansas which seems like a good start. I'll ask the dealership if I can get a mechanical inspection by a local mechanic before I bid.

I have bought one other bike on ebay signt unseen and that transaction went OK>

Don't give up on Ebay! Just be very wise with your items and your bidding. I bought many things for my 883XL and saved tons of money. Just keep a parts catalogue near you before you bid. There are some skammers out there who put a reserve on the item that is actually higher than the price in the catalog. BTW, I'm a female rider.

I just went on Kawis web site and looked at the Versys. Its a 650cc bike that is geared more towards covering all aspects of riding. Take a look at the
site http://www.kawasaki.com/Products/Detail.aspx?id=246. They also have some viseos on the Press demos. Just $7000.
I would consider buying one myself, but I bought a new bike this past year. My wife would hang me by my toe nails.
Hmm, but if I buy it and put a big red bow on it and say...Suprize!!!
Aw... That wont work. She doesnt ride. Ahhh. If only...

Just bought my bike - 2002 Kawasaki ZZR 1200. Thanks for the conversations; I should be (fast) touring US Southwest within a week.
