If all you did was replace the stock mufflers with the slash cuts, then you shouldn't have to do anything to it. It would be a good "suggestion" to do a Stage I big air kit, and a Stage I flash for the FI. But, you don't NEED to. Of course, I could be wrong.

I used a set of slip fit S&S on my 03 Road King. If I ran the bike at 50-70 and quickley got off of the gas it would pop. My indy said it was not a problem. I left the bike in that set up for a year with no problems. Went with a stage 1 kit and chiped the engine, the pop went away but do not know it it would have ever been a problem.

Bob, I'm sure you've heard it before, but..................
"An engine is nothing more than an air pump".
That means the more air you can get into it - the more air you can get through it - the more air you can get out of it - the better it's going to run.
Doesen't matter if it's a Top Fuel dragster, a Briggs & Stratton lawn mower, or your Harley.
The principal is the same.
You've taken the first step of providing the engine with a better means for getting rid of air, so you WILL notice a difference.
Adding the Stage I kit will help get more air into the engine, and you'll no doubt feel a difference if you do that as well.
Then, it's just a matter of having the computer re-flashed to allow the new mods to work properly.
Re-flashing the computer will adjust the fuel and advance curves to compensate for the increased air flow.
The Stage I kit is pretty pricey.
A K&N filter is cheaper.
The Stage I kit comes with a K&N filter.
Do the math.
"$15,000, a new leather jacket, and 15 miles under your butt doesn't make you a biker."

Just so you know. You do NOT need to do a SERT (Screaming Eagle Race Tuner) to do a Stage I. Don't let anyone tell you different. A SERT is something entirely different than just upgrading to Stage I. They are entirely compatible, and worth it, but not neccessary. The SERT is a FI componant like the Power Commander.

If the bike runs really horribly, then you probably need a flash download. Normally, you don't have to do all of the things that the dealer is telling you unless you change the air intake. The number one rule of owning a Harley is not to trust the dealer. All they want to do is stay in your pocket. Good luck with your new scoot.
If you hear a "pop" it's probably because of a lean condition in that particular throttle position. It can happen in any gear. A Power Commander or SERT will fix that but you're going to shell out a few bucks to have your bike running "optimally". Also, you might want to keep in mind that the Power Commander or SERT is only as good as the person that tunes it. Good Luck.
