My dealer is offering free labor for installation of the Harley Isolated Drive System. The parts are $300. My 2007 Electra Glide doesn't have fifth gear whine but sixth gear does chatter sometimes. I figured it was normal. It always happens as the RPMs are dropping; like approaching a hill. I just pop down to fifth and its gone. I just take the chatter as my cue to downshift. Anybody getting this installed?

I was looking at the new '08 models at a store while out in Las Vegas last month. It looks to me that the iso drive parts (the ones I could see)are a bracket up by the steering head, mounts the front cylinder head to the frame to isolate vibration. I don't know more about it but, I think it just isolates vibration. I don't think this will cure your problem.

The part I'm referring to is a rubber isolation mount for the rear belt sprocket. Its supposed to make the drive line smoother. Its Harley part 40287-07. I was just curious if anyone has actually ridden a bike with this installed.

You know this is going to be big money for HD, Ford had a flywheel assembly like this called a Dual Mass Flywheel, every time you shift the rubber will compress giving you the false feeling of a smoother shift. After time its going to fail and need to be replaced, it's rubber. I personally want to feel my shifts, if I want to bang a gear that's up to me and we all know how to shift smoothly so What's the big deal over this system anyway, I think it's a joke. BTW my ford has been sporting a solid flywheel for over 9 years the DMF failed after only 3 years.
