I am trying to decide which way to go with my exhaust, My local tuners, yeah the same one's from the computer post (non dealer) recommends avoiding the true duals (i.e. Rinehart, Vance&Hines, etc...) He and she say they rob power from the midrange where the collective "we" ride most. They have the dyno charts to prove it too. Says to keep stock header and get slip ons (V&H, or SE) then re-tune stock computer.
I am thinking of the SE active performance muffler kit and the SERT and Fueler...Anybody have any experience with that?
How's it sound. I figure with 4 inch pipes it has to sound pretty good...
local tuner
anyway if your in michigan check out my local tuners. They do great work and no I am not on their payroll... Support your local inde-tuner.

Raja, I read on this post about Fullsac from Blue Falcon, they modify the stock header system to flow better and work with any slip on muffler you wish to use. Also, if they fit your application, will give you a simple bolt on modification that is easy to install. Now for the mufflers, I have installed and used Rush mufflers for a year now and find them to still be the best value and best performing mufflers for the money. Core sizes run from 2 1/2 down to 13/4 so you can modify the performance and sound characteristics to your particular taste, my buddy has 2 1/4 on his SE and loves the sound, not to loud and not to quiet. I have run Rhineharts, V&H, and SE on my bikes in the past, worked ok but very expensive and the sound was not adjustable as easily as the Rush system is. I do not sell the product, just use it, my experience is based on having spent $$$$$ trying this stuff out. Addiction knows no borders!

I am running Rush on my 07 FLSTC with 1 3/4 baffles, I have the 2's but feel the smaller ones give a just a bit more torque, sound is great. I don't have the tech to produce a sound bite for you, sorry. Go to their web site and maybe they have it. Also, if you are running with O2's on your bike I feel the Arlen Ness Big Shot is a better setup, cheaper too, than most of the products out there that adjust the fuel supply. Check it out.

Changing ones exhaust system is all about what you are trying to achieve. More power, different sound, different look, removing the crossover pipe to remove heat. Once you've decided, then that will narrow your options. Yes, I once considered the Fullsac header Mod but after giving it much thought I've decided to go with the Vince and Hines true dual headers with my stock mufflers. I like the seamless look that the Vance & Hines have and I don't mind the sound that the stock mufflers have. (I can't justify spending 400 to 500 dollars on mufflers just for a few hp's and ft lbs of torque) Plus, my issue is to remove as much heat from the passenger's floorboards as possible. I love the Rhineharts, but they are too expensive. I plan to do this over the next few months.

Choosing the right exhaust system can be tedious. You have to do your homework. The best advice I got was to audition as many mufflers as I could. I went to my dealer's used bike showroom and started practically every bike there. It's really helpful to hear them before you buy. I was running Wild Pig slip-ons. They got a bit loud after a few months. I am back to stock now and getting used to hearing my radio. I am looking at a special my dealer is running. You get Rush mufflers, EFI download, Stage 1 air cleaner, and labor for $749.00. I like the sound...just loud enough.

The best performance you can get is with 2 into 1 pipes. That will achieve all of your goals. Unless one goal is to have pipes down both sides.

I think the answer is too figure out what you want to achieve then try to hear tht setup on a similar bike but failing that just pick one an d buy it then if you don't like it buy something else...
I am goig to go with the SERT, the V&H Big Shots or True Duals, and a K&N airfilter...

Raja,
You haven't told us what model you have. The above sounds like a good set-up.

I think that he'll get good results from that setup. Look into Cycle Shack exhausts. They make good power and they're relatively inexpensive. Actually, Harley uses them for Screamin Eagle pipes. They just stamp the SE logo on them but it's the same pipe. There's only 1 problem with modifying a stock muffler. What are you going to do come inspection time??? It's best to keep those stock mufflers and set them aside. You're going to need them someday. Good luck, lad.
