Anyone have any comments on the new throttle by wire on the new 08 touring models.
I have a 2008 FLHRC and dont seem to see the point, except for cleaning up the bars.
I dont think it has a good feel very touchy, Not great when you hit a bump
I guess Ill get used to it only have 500 miles kinda miss my 2003 Springer softail with a carb

I guess its good that Harley technology is advancing. From 2007 model year to 2008 we have seen Isolated Drive System,ABS, and a throttle-by-wire system. As long as it feels like a regular throttle , I guess it would be alright. Thats two less cables to worry about. I bet some of the fuel management devices we are all so fond of might not work with an electronic throttle. I noticed that the Terry Terminal Velocity II will not work on throttle-by-wire bikes. I know the throttle position sensor is critical to how most aftermarket fuel management systems work. The Thundermax website says their throttle-by-wire ECU is under development.

But, I'll bet the RaceTuner works with it. If not, Harley is kinda shooting themselves in the proverbial foot. Is'nt this just one more thing that can go wrong? How does it work, what things can affect it? Probably none of them will be fixable on the side of the road. I like the idea, but I wouldn't want to be the test group for this system.

I took delivery of my 2008 FLHTCU this past August after owning a 2003 Heritage Softail Classic 100 yr addition.
it's something to get use to that throttle-by-wire at first, I must have stalled out 25 times at first. But now I love it and it's a very clean look with out the extra cables.

You've been driving a car with it for years, it's a great system.

Bought an '08 RoadGlide. The first few hundred miles, it felt like it wanted to stall pulling off in 1st, but ya learn to get real smooth with the throttle and clutch (God I love that new clutch!) and it just goes. Don't even notice it any more.
