I don't think that $12,500 is a bad price for that bike. Throw it on e-bay with a reserve price and see what happens.

Try selling a 2000 with 90K miles... was asking $10K but everybody was balking at the miles. Hell, even HD says you don't really need to do anything to the TC88 until at least 150K miles. Finally ended up trading my 2000 FLTR and my 2007 FLTR (with 29K miles) for a 2008 FLTR, straight up.

I don't know the exact % the value drops, but a vehicle will lose the majority of its value in the first two years. My bike went from $23k in '04 to $15K in '06. It is probably still around $15K. The first two years is the biggest drop in value. After that it goes down a little. That is where Harley "holds its value". So, if you want as new as you can get without losing a lot of value, buy a two year old. My Sportster I bought in 2000 had been for sale for over a year. He kept it for sale, kept the price, and I got it. When I sold it in October 2003, I had it for sale for a month, and sold it to the first person who looked at it. I was expecting to have it for a while. It was a nice sunny day, and I was gonna go riding, but no, he buys it. I got $1800 less than I paid for it. It was a 1994 883 Hugger with a sport bob tank, apes, cool paint ect. I got what it was worth, I paid what it was worth. I lucked out. The guy I bought it from had perserverence. You will loose your a$$ if you trade it in. You might as well take the wholesale price. Keep it for sale at your price, push the "real" biker angle. This is the time "smart" buyers are looking. If they think they are getting a good bike at a good price the mileage might not be a factor. I know when I bought my Sporty it wasn't. It was a 1994 with over 30K miles. The guy even told me they rode it everywhere, to Sturgis ect. His wife got a new Dyna, so the Sporty had to go. I felt he knew what he was doing with bikes, so the miles didn't bother me. When I sold it, the miles weren't a factor. I think that the one who gets yours will be one who knows bikes, will take care of it, or will rebuild it from the ground up as some race bike. Providing that you convey that you have taken great care of the bike. A well taken care of bike with a million miles is a better deal that a poorly broke in/taken care of bike with 1000 miles.

I finally sold the bike, I put it on Craig's list for 11,500.00 because the guy that was going to buy it (wholesaler) for 11k cash dropped his offer to 10k. Any
how I get a call, the guy doesn't show (I wait all day Sat.), he calls back the following Sat.(the guy has buying savy)apologizes, "if you still have it I want it" comes to the house in a late model Land Rover and tells me he only has 10k but finally comes off with 10,750.00, so I let it go. I thought 11,500.00 was the deal of the century, I wanted to rip out his throat with my teeth, you got big ones to ask for 1,500.00 off of the deal of a lifetime. The only thing good that came out of this whole thing was the lesson I learned watching this snake in action.

23,700 miles is nothing if you kept it in good shape. Heck, the rings are just broken in.

I have over 130,000 miles on my Panhead and she still gets down the road fine.
