Not a pretty ride and no pictures but for the first time i broke 400 miles in a single trip on a single day and im pretty damn proud of myself.

Unfortunately it was all highway miles. Had a dive club meeting in Denton Tx. Previously i lived in Nh, so i had only met these guys online. So this is the first meeting i was able to make in person.

I basically travelled the whole of I35 from Austin, through Dallas, over into Denton for the meeting at The Smokehouse. Which, btw, i loved the food and the prices were insanely low for what i got. I ate ribs, mashed taters, fries, and pulled pork, washing them down with 2 large cokes for just over 10 dollars and i left some fries and the bread on the plate. (and im a pretty big guy with an apetite to match)

After the meeting and dinner i decided to ride the other half of I35(and i found out it would have been a bit shorter to go out this way too but eh, wth)and came down through Fort Worth back to Austin. Total i think i stopped about 4 times for gas as i didnt know when the gas was coming, and in Tx you cant be too careful. Started the trip around 2.30 in the afternoon and got home around 1.30 in the morning, a total of 445ish miles as i did go the feeder roads alongside the highway a few times. All in all it wasnt a bad ride, except through the hearts of the citys where people don't know how to drive(as we all know) and 18 wheelers with******on the back hit me in the face

I do have to say, that all in all, i had alot of fun and was a big accomplishment for me as i have only ever hit about 250 miles in one trip before. I actually felt more safe on my bike than i do in my car because i felt i had more control of my bike than i do my wife's truck, and i dont take up the whole lane so i can weave out of the way of dukmbasses. Also the 18-wheeled truckers went out of their way, at all times, to drive safely around me, and treated me like another trucker by signaling me when to get in front of them, as i did when they passed me.

She bought her new bike, she passed her M/C Safety class, she rode her new bike around a big empty parking lot, and although she rode on the back to and from the parking lot, here she is on her new Heritage Softail!

As soon as the rain lets up, we will get more ride time.

First ride together!!

Last dry day for a week or so. I think she is ready for a road ride, so I hurry home, and the stinker has actually gone out to practice, without DAD!!!!

She comes back, and we head out. Just 25 miles or so, round trip out to Flaming Geyser Park and back, but Dad is proud of his youngest daughter, she handles her bike very well.

At the closed entrance. Forgot my tripod, setting camera on my gloves.

Someone just told me about this thread on the other side, so I've been checking out all the great photos and thought I would post some of my own. Although most of them wont be from this year, due to the economy we have had to cancel all of our planned trips this year with the exception of a few long weekends here and there.

This from a hill climb at the White Rose Motorcycle Club in Jefferson PA.

This is a canyon near Hot Springs WY and my wife is taking the shot from the back of the bike. It was very nice with the river and train track leading us thru this Indian reservation and the 3 TeePee's were just a bonus.

This one is kind of hazy but we are not in a helicopter, this is the Bear Tooth Pass that borders mid Montana and Wyoming.

My wife and me in same Pass

The Buffalo are in Custer State Park SD, and then Needles Hywy in the Black Hills State Park in SD, and My wife in the Badland State Park SD.

I can't seem to get my photo to upload, I used the image box and copied and pasted from another photo site. Could you help post my photos correctly so I can fix this mess above?

Update - I finally found the correct URL address thanks for the help

The only way I can get photos in is to load them to photobucket, from a saved location on my computer. I then open 2 windows or tabs, when you run your cursor over the photo on the photobucket page, it shows a drop down menu with several addresses. I copy the bottom one, with the img tag, and then paste it into the open reply window on the Rider page. If you want to see the formatting, just hit 'quote' on my posts with pictures, and you see it.

Good to be home………… We (my Brother and I) have had the most awesome vacation ever. We left Porterville, California on October 14, 2009 on our motorcycles. The day we left God decided to see how tough we were and dumped rain on us. Not to be discouraged we pushed on. Once we got out of California the sun decided to shine on us. We took Interstate 40 across the US heading for Arkansas. Several stops along the way to do the “Tourist thing” and to ride part of historic Route 66. Camped the first night out and realized it costs almost as much to camp in an RV park anymore (if you can find one that takes tents) as it does to stay at Motel 6. So……. Needless to say we only did that one night. Made it into Little Rock on Saturday the 17th. about half frozen!!! Man it gets cold in the south when the sun goes down!!!! Was so GREAT to finally get to see my kids!! I got to meet my new Grandson, Caleb for the very first time and yes, he immediately wrapped Grandpa around his little finger!!!! Sunday we took my son and daughter (along with some friends of theirs) on a ride around Little Rock. It was my daughters FIRST motorcycle ride so I was pumped!!! Had an awesome ride. Monday we went to the Clinton Presidential Center and was surprised to see my brothers name on the credit board. We lived in Arkansas when the center was built and my brother was a part of the very first planning meeting for the center. Needless to say he was blown away. To think, he is a part of history now!!! I think he told everybody we talked to on the rest of the trip!!!!
Spent the next few days seeing the sites around Central Arkansas. I have only been gone (from living in Arkansas) for about 4 years and was amazed at how much it has grown in such a short time. The slow economy hasn’t hurt Arkansas very much!!!
Saturday, October 24th. We loaded up and headed for Memphis (with my daughter riding with me). Spent Saturday evening partying on Beale Street with my son, Chris, his beautiful wife, Allison, Jenny, my youngest daughter, my brother and I AND my little riding partner “Zuki” (my 4 month old Min-Pin mix). Yes, she rode with me all the way from California. Needless to say, she was a hit on Beale Street. She even got to dance on the bar at Coyote Ugly!!!!!!!!!!!! We closed down Beale Street about 3:00 Sunday morning!!!
Sunday we HAD to go to Graceland and pay our respects to “The King”. Then a quick ride into Mississippi and then back to Little Rock.
Had rain off and on the rest of the week but still managed to get out some. Got to spend some time with one of my dearest friends, Becky Bowman. She and her husband Buddy are two of the best friends I have ever had the honor to know. Sadly, we lost Buddy just a few short weeks ago but I know he was there in spirit.
All good things have to come to an end and so was it with our visit to Arkansas…… We left Little Rock Thursday morning the same way we left California………. In the rain!!!! Let me tell you, when it rains in the south, IT RAINS!!!! We were in a regular downpour all the way to Van Buren, Arkansas. I can ride in the rain even pulling my little trailer but when the lightening started hitting close by, it was time to get off the road!!! Got a motel in Van Buren and decided it was time for a cold beer! For those of you not from the south, there are areas that are called “Dry Counties”. That means no alcohol sales….. Guess where we were…. That’s right……… a dry county! The rain had almost stopped so my brother decided to ride into the next town that sold beer. He hadn’t been gone 5 minutes and down it came!!!! BUT…. He prevailed and came back with an 18 pack!!! God bless him!!! Hot shower, a couple of cold ones and some dinner in our bellies and we were happy again!
The rest of the ride home was beautiful! Had sunshine all the way to California. Did a lot of the “Tourist Thing” again on the way home and just took our time. We saw some beautiful country along the way and at almost every stop met some really nice people. I learned that when traveling with a little dog on a motorcycle, you get a lot of attention!!! She made lots of new friends along the way, both two legged as well as four legged.
Our last night of our trip put us in Laughlin, Nevada (I know, it’s a little bit out of the way but……). We had a ball and the slots were VERY kind to me!!!!
We had planned to go to New Orleans and then ride the Southern route home but really bad weather changed those plans. Guess we will have to start planning ANOTHER road trip!!!!!

I can’t tell this story without taking time to thank my beautiful wife. Without her love, support and understanding this trip would have never happened. Thank you Cindy…….. you are one of a kind!! And to my brother Glen………………….. Bro, this trip was with out a doubt the most awesome vacation I have ever had. Can’t think of ANYONE I would rather have made the trip with. Thank you for being a part of it. I love you Dude…………………………….
