(From "Ride_Slow") "The proprietor of the Black Bear Motel just happened to be by her office as we pulled in, and she was able to set us up with rooms that were small, but clean, and we could turn the heat on enough to dry out. Very nice lady, she and her husband are putting together a very nice small motel, with a gift shop and a western motif."

It's good to hear about business owners who embrace the two-wheeled crowd. At the end of a long run (looks like you had several), it warms the heart to be treated with civility by the one who's taking my money.
Great post! Thanks for sharing the details.

I just got back from a "Last HooHah" 3 day ride before winter. 1,130 miles Nebraska to Branson MO (440 miles). Got a great priceline room for $35.00.. I had forgotten how many twisties there are in Northern Arkansas around Eureka Springs.. This time I took a 12hr. Aleve just before I left... I think I'll continue this from now on, as my butt never hurt once.. Amazing.. Took off in 45 degree sunny and warming weather to the low 60's.. Had no problems at all with the cold. But then I had winter gloves and chaps, and everything else I could think of to keep warm.. The wife asked me to take lots of pics.. but they just wouldn't capture the moments.. I guess, it's something we have to just experience. It was wierd, all the things there are to see and do in Branson, and I went riding instead??

Your welcome, they did some other things that were just above and beyond for 6 dripping wet riders, I would recommend them to anyone that does not need the newest and best, but rather prefers local flavor.

Ya, when folks ask you what you did in Branson, and you say ride; we here are all saying yeah, tell us about the twisties and the cool little joints to get some local eats. The normal folks look at you like you just stepped off a spacecraft.

You know, I had a 1 gb. memory in my camera...
I wish I could have stuck it to the top of my helmet and made a movie. I mean it was great, they have banked corners in that part of the country, and corners that reach the top of the hill half way thru the corner, as well as corners that bottom out half way thru the corner...
Man, no wonder all the great stock car drivers come from the South!

I would ride all that distance, just to ride that piece of road again..

So, another forum I visit has a ride posted today, everyone at my house is gone, so I guess I have to play hooky, and take a ride. I call my B-I-L, and he says can't ride, went camping, come by and have a cigar. Just so happens the posted route goes by where he is camping. Weather is great, blue skies, and a clean bike, so I head for the meet point. Prolly about 20-25 bikes, these are all roads I have been on at one time or another, just fun to ride with a large group. We are able to stay fairly well grouped together, and either hit the lights right, or traffic is light enough that we can all get thru the stop signs OK. The ride planner has put together a good route, very enjoyable. We skirt Black Diamond twice, then drop off SR169 towards Flaming Geyser SP. We all pull over to regroup, and then slowly pull forward. I am riding sweep, and one brand new bike doesn't start, so I stay with him, and one other rider, until all is well. (Bad battery connection, loose from the store) I had given my route map to someone else, and when we got to the Green River Road / 218th-212th way intersection, it was a case of 'Which way did they go?' I guessed right, which was wrong. I asked the other 2 riders if they wanted to take a few more curvies, and then I would direct them to the mid ride meet at Enumclaw Suzuki, they were good with that, so off we went. East on Kent-Black Diamond, past 101 Pines, 2 pickups pulled out and were going very slow. Road is double yellow center, but I figured we could get around them quick, something just held me back. Around the next corner, where I would have been about 25mph over the limit, after passing the trucks, was Black Diamond PD. We were all very glad we were stuck behind those trucks. We skirted Black Diamond again, and went south on SR 169, then east on Franklin RD. Road was bumpy, my HD rides really nice across that stuff, the sporty bike riders were getting the snot beat out of them. Not pushing too hard in the corners, still wet in places, and leaves on the road, but that road is still fun to ride. We peeled right, just before the Green River Gorge RD, and headed east for Cumberland. This road has a couple of corners that unweight you during the transition from left to right, and one blind hillcrest. I am familiar with it, but I was really surprised to check my mirrors, and not see any headlights. When we got to the Veazie-Cumberland RD, I sent those guys south, and I went north to have lunch. Was looking forward to spending more time with the group, but maybe next time. Only 87 miles door to door.

This is the parking lot at Cycle Gear, before everyone was there.

It just doesn't get any better... And the heck of it is that you could take a million pictures and still not be able duplicate the flavor of the ride... Thanks for sharing...

11-16-07. Count one more rider in my family! My daughter and grand daughter are visiting from Kentucky, and we both happened to pull in the driveway at the same time. I put the kickstand down, but leave the bike running so I can just ride it into the garage. (I know lazy a--) I get my grand daughter out of her seat, and am going to take her into the house, but she is pointing at the bike. I let her twist the throttle a couple of times, and she does not seem to be bothered by the racket. She is still pointing at the bike, so I sit her on the back seat, (Ultra) and she just nestles right in against the back rest, and is just sitting there, like OK this is good, what's next? With my daughters permission, and her standing right there, I straddle the bike, stand it up, and ride it into the garage. She likes it, and now is always pointing at the bike and saying "cycle" So, another rider in the family, for sure. Not bad for 18 months. Yahoo.....

11-17-07 My oldest grand-daughter is spending the weekend, and has ridden a short distance with me, during nice weather. Today, it has been spitting rain, cloudy, and cold. She keeps asking if we are going to go for a ride. I explain that if the roads dry out a bit, and the rain doesn't get any heavier, we will go. 3:30pm, and it is still cold and crummy, she says , don't care lets go. We get her all bundled up, and head out. East on the Auburn-Black Diamond Rd., past the fish hatchery, and out along the Soos Creek. She really loves the curves, leaning in and powering out. We join up with the Kent-Black Diamond Rd., east past the county shops, and at 208th, drop down into the Green River Valley. We turn east, and pull into Flaming Geyser State Park. Have to go really slow, due to all the leaves on the road. She says she is fine, but we park the bike and walk along the river for awhile. It is running fast and clear, she is sure she sees a fish jump. We leave the park to the fishermen, and head up out of the Valley to SR 169. We stop by the 'Lonely Red Schoolhouse' the restored original Kummer district school house. Really is a one room outfit, still has the original bell in the tower. We slow down crossing the Green River Gorge bridge, this is one brave kid, she wants to look right over the edge, and it is a looooong way down. We finish the ride, as the sun is going down, and heading for home, she is still excited about getting time on two wheels. Another confirmed rider.
