Hi

I'm looking for a second hand 250cc bike suitable for a rider on his learner's permit. Could you guys give me a few suggestions on which bikes I should consider browsing around for. Information to support your suggestions will also be appreciated.

Thank You

any of the four bikes (Honda cb250,yamaha virago 250, kawasaki eliminator which I think is a 125, not sure , or the ninja 250 )should really do you just fine.

I learned on a Honda 250 Rebel. My father learned on a Yamaha Virago 250. The Virago is a great little bike. The proportions are so well done it looks like a big bike from a distance.

If I could do it over again, I would have started on a 250 Nighthawk. The standard position would be better than a cruiser, I think.

The 250 nighthawk is a great bike (i'm rideing one now haveing jus passed my test 6 months ago) its a bit lacking in power (12bhp at 132kg heavy) so getting past 70mph is an effort but still a brill bike, if I could afford another bike right now I would trade it in for the new and improved CBF250 which is replaced the old 250 nighthawk this year. (not to keen on the cingle cylinder engine though, I hear they makle gear changing a bit horrible.)

Anyone can walk on water, i've done it myself. just wait untill the lake freezes . . .

I'd be too afraid of the engine seizing on a 250 trying to get it past 70mph!

nice long skid mark...maybe two

I have recently purchased a Honda VT250 Custom. I have riden it for about 1000kms. I looks sensational (bigger in all dimentions to the Virago) and has a great 4 valve twin OHC engine that provides enough omph for a leaner like myself. Doesn't look like a "small bike".
