KYFLHRSI why did you have to replace the two brackets? Do you have the P/N for the one-piece top clamp?

I did the same project two winters ago, putting 16" apes. I love them!

Bobby-

Two reasons that I am doing so. First, it was recommeded by the handlebar company I purchased from, Wild1, and second, I have read on other forums instances where people have actually had their bars crack in the center due to the design of having the two individual clamps. The once peice clamp gives better support.

The HD Part number for the clamp for our bikes that is designed to fit under the nacelle is 55917-08. It cost me about $20.

I guess I am the only loser home on a Saturday posting instead of riding....

anyway, exhaust is on, throttle and idle cables connected, accessory 12v plug purchased and installed, a few misc nuts a bolts replaced with chrome versions or caps from Ace Hardware (same as HD for 1/10th the price).

I have gone as far as I can until UPS shows up with my new grips, and chromite-II chromebraided plug wires (afterwhich I can bolt the tank back down). I am also waiting for my custom ordered Goodrich +6 brakeline also in platinum chrome braid.

I also have the HD chrome braided cross over line to put on the gas tank, but am a little worried as it looks a little shorter than the black hose it is replacing- I hope it fits...

I hope all of the rest of you are out riding and enjoying yourself... looking at a dismantled bike in the garage is very depressing...

I sure wish UPS delivered on Saturday......

Well, I don't know what I did, but I did it. I bought the 12v plug and tried to install it. I looked all over and under the seat and found one place to plug it in. The spot had what I would describe as a hole filler. I pulled that out and pushed my new 12v in. Fit perfect. Then I turned on the bike to see if it worked and the speedo said "bus er" I am assuming that it means Bus error and I plugged into a computer port. Anyway, I took out the 12v and now the bike won't start. It lights up but the fuel ingection light won't come on when i press the run switch and it doesn't turn over. Any ideas?

Check all your fuses. If you have a RKC there is a fuse block for the EFI on the right side under cover. It will show you in owners manual on page 229. Hope it is just a fuse. Good Luck. Have fun and ride safe.

Thanks kpapa, I found the fuses (the spare fuse that was supposed to be there wasn't) What's a bad fuse look like? They looked fine. The one that is labled ECM power fuse had a small amount of dark "stuff" on one of the small metal blades, and it rubbed right off. could that be all it takes? There is a bigger piece called the EFI system relay. I pulled it out too and it looked nice and clean. I guess I'll buy some new fuses tomorrow and give it a try.

When you pull the fuse,look through it you should be able to see that the little wire inside will look melted. Some times a fuse will look good but it
can still be bad. If you have a 12 volt test light you can test the fuse in the fuse block. You might have to turn the switch on to test them. make sure you check both sides of the fuse. You can also pull another fuse from somewhere else ( as long as it's the same amp or larger) and try it in the EFI slot just to see if it will start. Hope this helps you.
