Sorry for hogging up all the posts, but I have a new symptom to report:
connected up the switches from the nascelle and plugged in the headlight. No change and headlight also does not work. Tested all the fuses- light in box lights up for every one. Switched the two relays since I can't test them- no change....

Any ideas?

I wish I could help....I got the hole drilled and the 12v thing mounted and plugged in to the right place....it just doesn't work. Maybe I shorted it out too. What a pain in the a@@ this dang thing has been.

I feel bad that I pointed out the part to you...on my Old No. 7, it was a five minute plug and play deal.

I'm still thinking it has something to do with the blinkers. I remember talking to a Harley tech about the alarm (I don't have one) and he mentioned something about all the weird stuff that has to be replaced to install the alarm. I seem to recall that the directionals were one of the parts that needed to be replaced. I'll have to dive into the wiring diagram and see if anything pops out.

OK Guys, just remember next time I have a problem.... you can't spell R-E-T-A-R-D without R-E-D.

It was operator error- I started working my way backwards and through my work and realized that I transposed my wiring map. When I checked it against the wiring diagram, I realized I had put the wires back in to the switches backwards. After I switched them, she fired right up.

Now, only issue is smoke coming from under the heat shield on the right side exhaust. I probably spilled something on the pipe when it was loose- most likely a drop or two of oil...

More good news- barnett will have my cable from goodrich tomorrow and say they will overnite it to HD for my pick up Friday. That means, assuming RETARD RED can figure out how to install the brakeline and bleed brakes by myself (bought a mightyvac pump), then I will be able to take that trip afterall...

Right on Red. By the way I think you have the only Real Red bike in existance. They stopped making that color before they stopped making the bike.

Hey Lion, you have probably already done this, but I would be remiss if I didn't at least say it. If I remember correctly, one of the two toggle switches on the nacell operates the plug. Did you try them to see it it worked?

In short. Did you turn the switch on?

I really hate to admit this, but no, I didn't try the toggles yet. I'll do that when I get home.

Greenman, don't feel bad. It's all operator error. And truth be told, I have had a lot of fun learning more about how the bike works.

I think we have all done something as simple as not turning a switch on, not connecting the battery or not plugging a wire in the right place. One thing for
sure we usually remember it the next time. Have fun and ride SAFE.

Well duh, that was it, I forgot the toggle. I now have a working 12v thing on my scoot. I looks pretty good too, very out of the way.

I can't do the pic thing but if you send me your email I'll send you a pic.
