Pay - ride safe, sounds like a blast.

This past weekend was bittersweet as I am now down to 1 bike again. My RKC has been sold. I gotta tell you I was pretty sad watching it get trailered away but I just wasn't riding it anymore and all my time was spent in the saddle of my Night Rod Special. I was happy to see the guy who bought it seemed like he was going to really enjoy riding her so that was cool. Otherwise I am like half of you on this forum now and no longer an RKC owner. Moment of silence.

Stop in at the General Store in Aladdin. Moon pies and Nehi's. Population - 15 (could have sworn it was 16 in 2003 when I stopped by for gas. Just past Hulett on 24.

Thanks Gringo.

I have a vacation topic too:
Has anyone taken their laptop on a long ride and put it in the saddle bags? Do you think all the heat from the pipes could hurt a laptop? I'm thinking like a 5 to 8 hour run before stopping for the day. (Potty breaks throughout the day of course).

LionFan,
I traveled 12 hours with my laptop in the saddle bag and had no problems. Although, each lap top is different. Depending on the room in the saddle bag you could put something in side the saddle bag to protect the lap top. Good luck and enjoy the ride.

That would be Highway 323 from Alzada to Ekalaka on my trip. It used to be 80 miles of dirt road, not gravel, DIRT. A Highway! Now it's about half and half. But, after it turns to dirt you can still average about 55-60 mph. A ways into that the gravel starts. 40 mph in the bare wheel tracks. About went down once right as I first hit the gravel. I didn't expect that. Lotsa bugs, hot, the roads were nice. Even the dirt road was smoother than I-25 here in Colorado. Came back through the Black Hills. Very nice, took the edge off of the heat. About 1200 miles in 36 hours round trip. Have to go to work this morning too. I lost a fishtail end cap on US-85. Tell ya'all more later.

I haven't checked in here in a while. So, I thought that I'd check in.

Pay,
Ride safe and enjoy yourself, my brother.

Rocky,
It's ok. You.....like others, are still one of the fold. Please stick around. Someday, when we all finally get togeher, it'll be cool to see everyone with different bikes and know that a friendship started from the world wide web and an amazing bike called the Road King Custom.

As for me, I'm on vacation in Canada with my family. It's amazing here. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking. I took the kids to Cedar Point, Ohio to ride some rollar coasters. Then we trecked on to Niagra Falls. I'm currently in Collingwood, Ontario Canada and I'm having a blast. Everyone in Canada has been super friendly. Talk to you all soon. Hope this upcoming holiday finds everyone in happiness and good health.

PS.....Obviously, I travel with a laptop too. It's like American Express. I don't leave home without it. LOL

Thanks for the advice HH.

I'm leaving tomorrow (THursday) for a 1300 mile ride through Northern michigan. Mom and Pop Motels, beautiful lakes, and all the fudge one can eat (they call tourists "fudgies"). I will see some family too, can't wait.

Hope everyone has a fun and relaxing 4th.

BTW - Pay, did you take a wind shield along on your ride?

I'd take offense to being called a "fudgie".

TT - No worries, I don't plan on leaving anytime soon.

Rocky: Duuuude!!! It's ok though.

King: I didn't go that way, I went North from Hulett to Alzada, Montana. Next time. I love Moonpies. With RC Cola.

Arthurn: Thanks. It was nice. Hot and buggy, but nice.

Lion Fan: Enjoy. Eat some fudge for me.
