Round I of the playoffs, I'm 4-0.
Now if my Round II predictions come true, I'll REALLY be psyched!

Hey guys -- back in July of 2007 I asked this question here in the thread:
Gringo wrote: Question for you guys - Harley has introduced anti-lock brakes on the Touring models for 2008 - optional on most touring models, standard on the SEs. Does anyone know if the optional ABS can be put on a 2004 RKC? According to the Harley website, it is not visible at all... it is something I am seriously interested in, even if it is not chrome!
I got an email from the managing editor of American Rider magazine, our sponsor here, that they are going to publish the question:

Hey Richard!
Just wanted to let you know your ABS question will be published in the Ehlert online section of American Rider in the April 2008 issue!
Hope Florida is treating you and your Harley well!
Best Regards,

That's fun!
Just goes to show you how they read our thread! THANK YOU CHELSEA!

That's cool. How come they don't print anything about the brake squeal, or the '07 heat issue? I'm not saying they are avoiding those things, I just became curious.

I dunno.... maybe they did and we missed it??
Also - I have got to think that there are a TON of bike owners like me who would buy the ABS as a retrofit option if it were possible. My scoot would be in the shop instantly if it were. Without it costing and arm and a leg of course - I believe it is an $850 option on the '08s - so maybe $1k per bike for the touring class would be ok. (Are you listening MOCO?).
That question cuts across a long list of bikes and possible customers. As I look at the 08's in the showroom, I can not see anything that is a show stopper to the retrofit.. although I am NOT any sort of wrench at all... just thinking out loud is all.

New calipers that contain the sensors, wires and a new ECM (unless there a place on the existing one to receive the input from the sensors, doubt that). In the MOCO world, with installation, I think 1K is dreamland, it'd probably be a lot more. HD would rather sell you a a new bike.
I'm still down with doing that conversion for you, Gringo-meister!

I am dying to get you down to Miami sometime Gman.. whether we work on the bike or not. Current life changes should all be settled in a few months. I go to Canada in less than three weeks to get my honey and bring her here!! Its been an incredible past year, but I see it all coming together now and very much worth it.

That's cool Gringo. I haven't really thought abouthaving ABS on my bike. I guess it would be neat. I have ABS on my tow truck with air brakes. That's a little different. On ice it sounds like psh, psh, psh, psh. Come to think of it, ABS on the bike would probably be a great idea. No more locking up the tires to send you into a skid, and down.
