RE: To Ape or Not to Ape?

I tried one bike, but not for a long ride, with ape hagars that were about 5 inches over my head,(im 6' tall), while in the saddle. While for the short ride i had they werent uncomfortable really, they were for sure awkward to ride with.

RE: Road trip to Sturgis...

I rode using cowboy boots for many years. Now wear Danner boots, Stryker style, most of the time, and a 12" for when it is really cold and wet.
I wear cowboy boots on the bike. Most of the time i dont worry bout cold or rain living in Tx. Well, at least not cold enough to worry about it penetrating my cowboy boots lol

I wouldnt think you a sissy, id just be concerned that if you put your foot down by accident, or god forbid dumped, that your moccassins would get messed up!

RE: Anybody like the new Sportster 48?

If i were to purchase a Harley, the sportster line is not one i'd even look at. I just never liked any of the styles of that particular line.

RE: Road trip to Sturgis...

Depends on where you go. If its Austin, your purdy much accepted.
Further south or west....all bets are off. ;)

RE: Road trip to Sturgis...

That would be about 1300 miles for me and id love to try it someday. I took a 550 to 600 mile jaunt from Austin to dallas, to denton, through DFW and back to Austin one day. With all the stops, talking on the phone at the stops, and dinner it took me from 3pm to about 3 am. (half hour of phone at one stop, dinner was 1.5 to 2 hours as it was with friends in Denton AND i got a bit lost lol)
My buddy has told me that i HAVE to go this year or he will kill me. I missed last year as i was in process from moving from NH to TX.

RE: Tires

Its actually tough to say. I just don't like the feel of the ride as much.
Rode a bit harder, tougher to make the bike go where i wanted it to go. Felt funny going into turns and i couldnt get down into a turn like i could on my dunlops.
The only plus was they rode better on rough pavement.
