2017 International Tour Companies Directory

Every two years, the Rider staff compiles an up-to-date listing of tour companies that operate internationally. We only include reputable companies that offer multi-day, fully guided street and/or adventure bike tours on their own rental fleet.

IMTBike’s Portugal & Southern Spain Tour.

Have you ever dreamed of seeing another country from the saddle of a motorcycle, but were intimidated by the language barrier, figuring out what roads to take or picking good places to eat and sleep? We’ve got you covered! Motorcycle touring is more popular than ever, and there are dozens of reputable motorcycle tour companies that offer fully-guided trips on just about every continent. They take the risk, planning and logistics out of the equation, leaving you free to enjoy the ride and have a great time.

For our 2017 International Tour Companies guide, we’ve compiled an up-to-date list of tour operators that will help you find your perfect two-wheeled trip abroad. All of the operators listed here offer multi-day, fully guided street and/or adventure bike tours on their own rental motorcycles, employ English-speaking guides and include accommodations while on tour. What’s not included in this list? Single-day tours, self-guided tours, chartered group tours and tours that require you to use your own bike.

Keep in mind that prices may not be directly comparable. Some companies include things like the motorcycle rental, meals, tolls, fuel, excursions and even drinks with dinner, others don’t. There may be a surcharge for a single rider in his or her own hotel room (as opposed to sharing a room), and the charge for a passenger can vary from company to company. Also pay attention to the currency in which a tour is priced. Exchange rates can fluctuate, so your final cost can depend on when you pay for the tour.

Before you book, make sure you know how much insurance coverage you’re required to have or pay for. Some operators will put a multi-thousand dollar charge on your credit card to cover possible damage, which is refunded after the tour. Make sure your personal medical insurance covers motorcycle riding, and it’s a good idea to have supplemental insurance that covers repatriation, medical costs, trip cancellation and personal liability. Medjetassist.com, medexassist.com, travelguard.com and geobluetravelinsurance.com are great places to start.

Finally, make sure your passport has at least six months left on it—from the date of travel, not when you book! Check with the tour operator to see if you need a visa or an international driver’s license (available at your local AAA). Oh, one more thing—have fun!

  1. One awesome tour company not mentioned is Ride In Tours, based out of Tours, France. I took a tour with them, small group, it was like riding with a group of your buddies to europes most amazing roads. Pricing was not all that much over what I would spend solo and all the routes and hotels were taken care of. They offer self guided tours as well, custom tours ( & custom, self guided ! ). They offer theme tours ( WWII, Alps, etc) They also have a motorcycle purchase program where you can buy and insure through them, great idea for long term or multi trips. I did this and its a fantastic way to go. This is not a huge company, you’ll ride with Laurent the owner. I’ve ridden a total of close to 3 month in europe on several trips, I’m not a “tour” type person but this tour was incredibly fun, I’ll do another soon!

  2. I should add the price was a deal, $1000 USD for 6 days, 3* hotels, I brought my own MC but they rent as well. Small group, not a large mash of riders. The owner does non escorted tours as well, you give him what you want to see, * of hotel, he gives you a GPS and makes reservations. this is an awesome way to go ! https://www.facebook.com/rideintours/

  3. Another great tor company missed is Celtic Rider in Ireland owned by Paul Rawlins out of Dublin. Mainly rental of bikes with preprogrammed GPS and prebooked B&B’s. Great guy, super great roads and top of the mark accommodations. My wife and I did a 7 day Wild Atlantic Way tour in the North West. Check out their web site. We are going with them again next year because we fell in love with Ireland

  4. An amazing tour company in Ecuador is Gulliver Expeditions http://www.gulliver.com.ec. The owner Eran Hayoun is a very passionate motorbiker. His company offers many motorsports tours to travel around Ecuador and Peru, is definitely a great option to travel around South America.

I spent 2 weeks in Ecuador and they tailor made my tour based on my needs, they even help me with the right motorcycle depending the places we visited.
